History of the International Tourism Mart
International Tourism Marts are organized in rotation in the north eastern states. It is the first time that Mizoram has held this Mart. Previous editions of this market were held in Tawang, Guwahati, Shillong, Agartala, Imphal, Gangtok, and Kohima. The event will focus on ‘G20 Priorities for Tourism Trucks’ as India takes over the next G20 Presidency for an annum from 1st of December 2022.
The Mart aims to concurrently bring the tourism industry and entrepreneurs from the eight states in the Northeast. The event was designed and planned to facilitate interaction and generate excitement among consumers, merchants, media, government agents, and other stakeholders. The market includes presentations from eight North Eastern provinces on tourism possibilities, cultural evenings full of exchanges, and visits to local inducements in and around Aizawl.

The Ministry of Tourism hosted the 10th International Tourism Market (ITM) for the North East region from November 17th to 19th in Aizawl, Mizoram.
The International Tourism Mart 2022 highlights the tourism potential of the northeast region in the domestic and international markets. International Tourism Mart’s delegation includes students from all over the country who attend tours under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
The IITM travel and tourism provides a platform for states to showcase their products to international buyers, influencers, and bloggers, attracting more tourists to their states.
Attendees for 2022 at the International Tourism Mart
In the event’s opening session, Mr. G Kishan Reddy, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, was the honorable main guest in the evening. The event facilitated exchanges between media, entrepreneurs, sellers, government offices, and other such policyholders.
As per the tourism ministry, ITM has harmoniously and successfully brought together tourism companies as well as entrepreneurs from its eight provinces in the northeast this very year. The esteemed Union Minister Reddy, who owns the north east Regional Development Portfolio (DoNER), attended the opening ceremony at the R Dengthuama Indoor Stadium.
Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga also graced the event, the ministry said. On the eve of the mart, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. R. Lalthangliana, opened a huge exhibition and food court pavilion at the Assam Rifles compound in Aizawl.
